Sword Shard 1: Do Not Disturb
The first Sword Shard is located in the northern Maragir Wealds, near the Upper Maragir Wealds Shrine.
After obtaining the relevant information about St. Mihai’s broken sword, open your map and travel toward the quest location in the forest.
Fast travel to the closest shrine and make your way to the marked area.
Investigate the first location
When you arrive, the Do Not Disturb objective begins.
Use Focus Mode to investigate the clues around the abandoned area. You will find several things that lead you toward a nearby cave, including a hand symbol and other clues.
Continue following the investigation until you reach the cave entrance.
Inside the cave, you will encounter a group of enemies. Defeat them and continue deeper into the cave.
At the back, investigate the broken cross on the ground.
A little farther ahead, you will find the prompt to Pick Up the Sword Shard.
This is the first Sword Shard.
Inspect the cave drawing
Before leaving, look for the drawing on the wall inside the cave.
Inspecting it is useful because it reveals clues about the locations of the other sword shards and updates the quest progression.
Once you finish this objective, the remaining shard-related objectives become available.
Sword Shard 2: Hostile Takeover
The second Sword Shard is located in the Rockfalls region.
The location is near the area around Giant’s Pawns, and the cave entrance can be identified by a large white X painted above it.
Travel to the marked location and look for the low cave entrance.
You will need to crouch to get inside.
Defeat Munch-Munch
Inside the cave, you will encounter Munch-Munch, a corrupted Kobold boss.
The fight is more difficult than the first shard encounter because Munch-Munch can use poisonous attacks.
Watch for his ranged poison attack and avoid standing directly in front of him when he uses it. Dodging at the right moment is especially useful for avoiding the dangerous attacks.
Once Munch-Munch is defeated, do not leave immediately.
You still need to loot the area to actually obtain the shard.
Search the nest at the back of the cave and collect the Sword Shard.
That gives you the second Sword Shard.

Sword Shard 3: Executive Order
The third shard is slightly different from the other two.
The initial quest marker points you toward a cave, but the Sword Shard is not actually inside that cave.
Instead, you must investigate the cave and follow the updated objective to the location where the shard was taken.
Investigate the Kobold cave
The route takes you toward the area around St. Tyna’s Grove.
From the Drunken Bear Inn area, head toward the nearby objective and investigate the cave.
Use Focus Mode to inspect the clues inside.
You will find evidence showing that the sword shard has already been taken.
Once you finish investigating the relevant clues, the quest objective updates and sends you to an enemy camp associated with Xanthe.
Go to Xanthe’s camp
Follow the new quest marker rather than the original cave marker.
The camp is near the Drunken Bear Inn area.
There are several guards and enemies here, and this encounter can be considerably tougher than the first shard location.
Because of the difficulty of the enemies, approaching this area at night can make the encounter easier for Coen, particularly when using his vampiric abilities. Your exact approach will depend on your build and equipment.
Defeat the guards and search the camp.
Inside the main tent, you will find the loot containing the third and final Sword Shard. Current guides place the shard inside the main tent at Xanthe’s camp.
Loot it to complete the Executive Order objective.

After collecting the final shard, you should have all three pieces required for the shard portion of Forge It Anew.
However, the three shards alone are not enough to complete the sword.

The quest then continues beyond simply repairing the weapon. You will need to follow the blacksmith’s instructions and complete the subsequent objectives to fully restore and temper St. Mihai’s sword.
The completed quest ultimately leads to the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, a legendary weapon.
